Thirst
After a tough crawl from the gutter,
He pulled himself together,
Stood by the roadside,
With no sense of what’s happening aside.
Dusk it was, but still he could see,
The interblend of sadness and glee.
A child was there in his mother’s lap,
Sitting aloof on a nearby rock,
She seemed to have the hardest slap,
But was forced to have the useless talk.
He(child) kept on asking about the rising tides,
The moving stars and the yellow lights.
She went on gratifying the little mind,
Mouth did the talking,
and hands kept wiping the teary eyes.
In between, she was complaining to herself,
Crying over the agony and the pain,
She was assaulted, was badly insulted,
By her husband “ A DRUNKEN MAN”.
She did it all, all for him,
Gave him her ornaments, gave her all the things.
Having spent them all, empty hands he joggled home,
His mind restless, as in debt till head he was drowned.
On the way somewhere he made some dealings,
Wife was waiting, unaware of his malicious feelings.
Somehow she smelled the inevitable,
Eloped to save him from the hands so evil.
The father in him was dead, the husband was lost,
As just for a pint , he agreed to sell his child at any cost!!
The mother kept crying, he looked at his own,
A wife and a daughter were waiting home.
His mansion was dilapidating, but a wine was in hand,
He reasoned himself..
Was he any different from that “DRUNKEN MAN”??
